The French Study
A new research has forecasted that the population of the world will hit over 9 billion by the end of 2050. The Frenchmen have also foreseen that India will lead the chart for the highest population leaving behind China, which is currently at the top. Current population of the world is around 7 billion and it will increase by over 30% in the upcoming three decades. If this is considered to be true, then we can expect an annual rise of the number of people to be around 1%. Remember, we have already considered the death rate here!
The French Institute of demographic studies has presented a half yearly report which says that there are going to be over 10-12 million people on the face of Earth by this 21st century’s end. Even institutes like the World Bank, the United Nations and others have forecasted the same. The United Nations found that world population would touch 9.6 billion by and between 2050-2051 which will see the number of people aged over 60 touching a total of a whopping two billion. Currently, people aged over 60 are around 730 million in number. People who are in middle of twenties or early thirties will have plenty of competition by the time they reach 60!
The French Institute also had to say that Africa will house 25% of the total population of the world by 2050. Mr. Gilles Pison who led the study said that the current fertility rate of African women is 4.8 children per lady as compared to the global average of 2.5 children per female. Americans are developed therefore their anticipated rate is a bit low at 20%. Americans will have a total population of 1.2 billion by 2050 as compared to 959 million right now. Asia is expected to see a rise of population from 4.3 billion at present to 5.2 billion in 2050.
Current Scenario and future expectations
Currently the population of different nations is a low, but it is expected to soar by 2050. Here is the list of the most populous nations and their expected rate of growth by 2050:
- China: China has the highest population in the world right now at 1.3 billion, but government rules and education to the general public has kept the expectation to a similar number even by the end of 2050.
- India: India is expected to lead the list of the most populous nations of the world by the end of 2050, it is said that India will see a gigantic rise in the number of people by the mid of 21st Current population of India is 1.2 billion a little behind China, but by the end of 2050 it would hover around the 1.6 billion mark!
- Nigeria: Nigeria is Africa’s most populous country and it is expected to leave USA and Brazil behind by the end of 2050. The current population of US is 316 million and that of Indonesia is 248 million, Brazil has a total population of over 195 million currently. Nigeria is expected to touch 400 million by the end of 2050.
So these are the rough figures which have been expected to come in the scene by 2050, if the population actually rises at this rate then there are going to be a lot many problems for humanity.
